Step 1: We Talk About the Dog

Before I talk about wire, transmitters, or collars, I want to understand your dog. I ask about age, breed, temperament, energy, previous training, escape behavior, fears, prey drive, and the distractions around the property. A confident two-year-old Labrador and a cautious five-month-old puppy should not be introduced in exactly the same way.

Step 2: We Walk the Property

We discuss where the dog should have access, where the highest risks are, and how the family uses the yard. Driveways, pools, gardens, waterfront edges, wooded areas, gates, patios, barns, play spaces, and future landscaping can all affect the layout.

Step 3: The System Is Professionally Installed

The transmitter is typically placed in a protected area such as a garage or basement. The boundary wire is installed along the planned route, crossings are handled appropriately, and the complete loop is tested. Most standard installations are completed in a few hours, although larger or more complex properties may require additional time.

Step 4: Boundary Flags Make the Invisible Visible

Temporary training flags show the dog where the new boundary is located. They are not the fence. They are a visual teaching tool that helps the dog connect the training with the location.
